Whether in good times or bad, organisations need strong leaders. In good times, leaders need to create a strong ‘centre of gravity’ that attracts and challenges an engaged workforce. Tough times call on leaders to really step up to the mark to sustain motivation and focus on performance.
Leadership development can take many forms and a combination of inputs including:
Leadership Development Programmes and workshops that brings teams or groups together and cover a tailored curriculum, e.g. leader as coach, leading change, communicating with impact, Sub-management development. These may be combined with individual coaching, cross-functional projects, team-building programmes, etc.
Leadership Circles offer small groups of leaders the opportunity to leverage their everyday experience in ongoing, short (2/3 hour) facilitated sessions. The focus is on helping leaders to reflect on their experience and gain insights which help them to change behaviour in pursuit of their goals. Formal input from the facilitator is led by the group.
Diagnostic Instruments: We are never led by diagnostic instruments but will use them if we feel that they add something useful to a leadership initiative.
The Leadership Space: in collaboration with Cathy Buffini Associates, I run a 2-day retreat for senior leaders several times a year. The Leadership Space offers senior leaders a safe and challenging space to step back from the busyness of everyday life to refocus on their leadership purpose. One leader per organisation is admitted to each session.
